The death anniversary of a loved one

Think of someone who was close to you who has died. Think about the whole person, and the things you miss about him or her. Write about your lost loved one in any way you want to- description, story, poem, paragraph. Just write.

By Way of Sorrow

I have arrived by my own determination,

but something else must have helped me along.

Maybe the remembrance of her hands on my back and forehead

when I was sick.

The tight handhold as we crossed a street.

The hands on my shoulders when she wanted me to tell the truth.

The hands pushing my baby carriage, my stroller, my wheelchair.

I will forget her weak final grasp

and accept that she is back with me, helping me

through every gate,

every burr-filled pasture,

every wolf-packed woods,

to here.
